Assists the Pharmacist in providing appropriate pharmacy services throughout the hospital. Fills medication carts, performs computer data entry, and delivers medications where needed. Communicates and provides documentation as required by pharmacy policies. Performs special duties such as narcotic distribution, account charging, and intravenous therapy preparation. Participates in quality improvement efforts by seeking opportunities, offering ideas, and supporting quality improvement activities. Actively takes responsibility to help contain costs and improve efficiency by pointing out areas of waste and suggesting viable cost-cutting alternatives. Exhibits dependability by working as scheduled and as requested in order to meet the patient and/or customer needs. Participates appropriately in Quality Improvement, Critical Pathway Programs. Performs customer related duties and responds to all visitor and employee questions. A career ladder for promotion of Pharmacy Technicians is available within the Pharmacy Department. Pharmacy experience as well as National Technician Certification is part of this career ladder. Technicians are eligible to be considered for promotion as the minimum requirements are met, assuming the Technician demonstrates good performance. The promotions do not automatically occur but occur at the discretion of the Director of Pharmacy. The minimum criteria must be met in all cases of promotion.
GED/High School Diploma. Level I requires expertise in level I requirements Level I - Stocks patient medication drawers. - Fill pyxis devices - Fills and delivers departmental orders - Repackage medications - Answer phone and window - providing needed answers concerning routine questions in the department -Documents all departmental charges by recording all transactions on appropriate forms and or computer entry - Credit patient medications.
Pharmacy Technician registration with the State for the appropriate WHS facility.
BLS is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
