Ophthalmic Assistants perform a variety of supportive tasks in an ophthalmologist's office.
While technicians and technologists may be more involved in procedural functions, assistants may be responsible for the following:
Gathering medical records and patient information Taking ocular measurements, both anatomical and functional Administering or preparing medication Maintaining and cleaning ophthalmic instruments Assisting the ophthalmologist in various procedures Great pay and benefits (medical, dental, in-house vision care, disability and life insurance) after 90 days, and room for advancement within the organization.
