Essential Functions Answers telephone calls, greets visitors and provides routine information of department functions other city department staff, outside agencies and the public; Enters and/or verifies information into computerized systems; Compiles a variety of information to prepare reports of activities and/or status.
Prepares and enters a variety of routine statistical information of program/department activities; Receives and distributes all incoming mail; Maintains records and files of department/program activities; Receives and receipts incoming funds, supplies and equipment; Orders, receives and stocks routine inventory supplies, materials; Prepares deposits, receipts, and refund requests, noting discrepancies.
Responds to citizen inquiries/complaints; Completes requests for work orders; Performs payroll data entry of departmental/program personnel, records allocation of time including leave requests, overtime and regular; Prepares a variety of mass mailings to promote, educate and inform a variety of audiences; Provides assistance to other department staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge of clerical/office support practices and procedures; Knowledge of assigned department/program operations and functions; Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices and procedures; Skill in operating a variety of office equipment including typewriters, personal computers, calculators, telephones and mainframe computer terminals; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other city employees and the general public; Skill in maintaining filing and record systems; Skill in following oral and written instructions, policies and procedures; Skill in working effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities, and frequent interruptions.
Education and Experience High school graduate or high school equivalent; plus, experience equivalent to one year full time clerical/office support work involving some customer relations responsibilities; OR completion of a post high school education in Office Management may substitute for the required experience.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
